We are up and getting ready to come home. Packing, eating breakfast and last minute gifts this morning and then on to the airport. Currently, Delta is showing departure and arrival as on-time. Once arriving in Detroit, we will load the school bus and travel back to Kennnedy Middle School. We should be there by 8pm. If something were to change, we will make sure to have students call you.
We are being told the bus will be arriving at 6:45pm. It was dated in traffic on 94. We have just landed at Detroit. Will be getting luggage and clearing customs and on our way to Kennedy Middle School. Should be there around 7pm Boarding the plane at this time. All kids accounted for and happy to be coming home. See you on Thursday evening. Sunny but chilly and very interesting morning. Shanghai is similiar to a Chicago/Denver. We already love this city and would come back, just because it is more modern than Beijing and what we are accustom too.
The pictures are from the World Financial Center Observatory. We've landed safety and are on our way to dinner and then the hotel for the night. It is cold and rainy but we are told it will be better weather tomorrow. I no longer have access to a computer, so posts and Picts will be through my phone. This morning, we all packed and had our goodbye/farewell luncheon with our host students. Many #'s and emails were exchanged, hugs given and some tears shed. It is a wonder what a week together will do to strangers! We are off on our next adventure to Shanghai. More to follow once we arrive. Students went with their host families over the weekend and had the chance to do many different things. Some of our students were able to get-together to celebrate Chad's birthday on Sunday. All students arrived back safe and sound to the campus at 8pm on Monday evening. Some were tired but all were sharing stories of their adventures. Their goal tonight is to pack for the plane ride to Shanghai on Tuesday and get a good night sleep. Teachers: spent the weekend exploring the city and its many markets. They had the chance to meet with other teachers from around the world, who teach on the Haidian campus and hear what they have to say out the education system in the school and worldwide. Administrators: we were taken on an overnight excursion to another city to visit the Science, Technology Engineering, Arts,Math (STEAM) district of China. This area is a city unto itself for the development of new therioes and ideas. As a city it was 180 degree opposite of Beijing and its old world ideals. Very modernistic. It was called the Huairou District. I have made some changes to the website to hopefully make it easier to read and follow. This includes labeling each day (day 1, day 2, etc...) and naming each day (Monday, Tuesday, etc..). I have also add the blog information to the picture page as a way to streamline the reading and picture viewing process. Hope you like it...
